The Wimbledon & Putney Commons are situated in South West London and are divided by the A3 and bounded on the east side by the A219, Wimbledon Parkside. To get to the Windmill car park from the A3, you need to go down the A219 – Wimbledon Parkside and left into Windmill Road opposite Alfreton Close. It’s clearly sign posted, but beware there is a speed camera near by (for the late comers) of 30 mph! If we meet at 10.45 ready for a 11.00 am walk (the car park can get very busy on lovely sunny days). There is a large green next to the car park where we can all gather and ‘meet and greet’. Suggest you bring the dogs out of the car straight away and the police advise not to leave valuables in the car…..ie our dogs! Please keep all dogs on leads until we have set off into the forest. Facilities: Car park has free toilets (ok) and a lovely café for a cup of tea, coffee, savoury snack meals, cakes etc for afterwards. Please come prepared for a bit of mud if it has been raining a lot before the day- otherwise very nice terrain if we don’t get lost.
