Fun Lappy v Sheltie Match The Chilterns branch of the England Shetland Sheepdog Society have challenged us to a match on Sunday 28th September 2008 at Watlington Hall, judge Mrs Liz Cartledge. This is a fun event and last time we were there was accompanied by much homemade cake and tea, and the ESSS, were very friendly and fun hosts. A match is a fun way of meeting up with friends, the competition is not serious and the judge will be light hearted and patient, so an ideal event to just come along and help make up the team. Last time we had so many Lappies some had to join the sheltie team to make up their numbers. The venue is easy to find at St Leonards Church Hall, Prospect Place, Pyrton Lane, Watlington, Oxon, OX49 5AJ. Google Map Multimap Our Team Manager for the event will be Sam Moore (email Sam) - who would love to hear from you if you are happy to be in the team. Be prepared to have your arm twisted to come along (Green star/CAC/Res GS/CAC* winners are not permitted to participate in the match (nor CC/res CC or JW winner for the shelties). Even if you don't feel like going in the ring - you can always offer your dog and let someone else pilot them for you, then if they win you can be a proud parent and if they muck about you can have the enjoyment of watching their handler get embarrassed! The actual match is based on a simple 1 to 1 knock out competition, with the following proposed groups; Puppy, Junior, Novice, Graduate & Open, 32 dogs for each team, if you win your pairing you move up to next round until we are left with a winner - there will be a prestigious trophy on offer to keep, plus rosettes. It is also planned to have a puppy walk before hand for any pups aged 3-6mths (not being included in the match but a good socialisation opportunity for pups). * A Green Star is the Irish Kennel Club equivalent of a Challenge Certificate.
