The SFLS is very pleased and proud to be able to announce that the UK Kennel Club has approved our application for inclusion on the Kennel Club Register and that the Southern Finnish Lapphund Society is therefore now officially an approved Breed Club. A big thank you to all our members for their support – and we look forward to being able to offer new and exciting events in the future.

02.11.09 - SFLS 2010 Calendar
Voting is now closed for the 2010 SFLS Finnish Lapphund calendar. Orders are now being taken, please use this order form.19.10.09 - SFLS wins 1st Prize !
The Southern Finnish Lapphund Society has won 1st Prize in the Midland Counties/Dog World Handbook and Newsletter competition.
The competition was open to all breed clubs and was split into four categories, where ours was ‘Breeds who do not have Challenge Certificates’. We submitted the 2009 Yearbook as well as the June 2009 and March 2008 editions of Lappy Tails.
The competition stated:
“In past years the competition has highlighted the remarkably high standard attained by many breed Clubs in the publications they issue to members. A number of them make use of modern production techniques which over the past decade or so has vastly improved the look and scope of the books and newsletters.
The best include, as well as advertisements from members and basic Club information, articles of interest both to the serious enthusiast and to the members who may not be interested in competing with their dogs.”
It is a fantastic accolade for the club to win this prize. Special thanks must go to Liz Mowatt, for her wonderful Newsletter editing, and to Toni Jackson for collating information and editing the Yearbook. And last, but by NO means least, huge thanks to our members. Without their fantastic contributions to both Newsletters and the Yearbook, as well as compliments and ‘constructive criticism’ (without which we would be unable to continually improve), we would never have been able to attain the level of standards we have for our printed publications.
Amazingly, the prize is £200 for the club, so we shall now start discussing how we best spend the money for the benefit of our members.
There will be a presentation ceremony at the Midland Counties show this Saturday (24th October 2009).

16.09.09 - Championship Status for 2011
At its meeting on 1st September 2009 the Kennel Club agreed to allocate Championship Status with effect from 2011 to the Finnish Lapphund at 8 shows, more details on the Kennel Club website

02.12.08 - Calendar orders
We have had orders for over 100 calendars so far, a fantastic result. To order your copy download and complete the order form - but you'll need to hurry, they are available on a first come first serve basis, so if we run out of first run copies you will have to wait for second run which will be after Christmas!!
